Who We Are

The Information Markets Association (IMA) is a nonprofit trade association serving as the unified voice for the information markets industry. We were founded in 2026 by a coalition of exchanges, market makers, data providers, academics, and other stakeholders who recognized the need for a coordinated industry voice.

What are Information Markets?

Platforms where participants trade contracts tied to future events or outcomes—harnessing collective intelligence to forecast events. These markets have existed for centuries, from papal succession betting in 1503 to 1880s Wall Street election markets. Today, modern exchanges facilitate billions in trading volume, producing prices that often outperform polls and expert forecasts.

Why IMA?

With over $27 billion traded in 2025 and growing regulatory complexity, our industry needed a single representative body. IMA fills that gap—advocating for industry interests, helping shape sensible regulatory frameworks, and educating policymakers about the benefits of information markets.

Our Leadership & Approach

IMA is governed by a Board of Directors elected from across our membership categories, ensuring all segments of the industry have a voice in strategic direction. Major policy positions and initiatives are developed through committee input and broad member consultation.

We maintain a lean operational model, partnering with professional services so resources stay focused on mission. Every six months, we report to members on activities and finances. IMA’s leadership approach is inclusive, transparent, and focused on delivering results for the information markets community.
